Phillies Phlats

I have to admit, the idea to paint these adorable flats didn’t come from me.  Dee from From Wine to Whine did it first.  She inspired me and at $5 a pair from Five Below plus Spring Training in full swing I couldn’t help myself.

Phillies Phlats

The Philadelphia Phillies are my boys.  Honestly, six years ago I couldn’t name one player.  But, thanks to our fist summer dating, the Hubs hooked me and the sport that was the most boring thing on the planet is now my favorite.

Now I am a tad bias but I suppose you could customize these shoes to the baseball team you root for, but not going to lie, they won’t be as awesome as Phillies ones.

To create the ‘P’ logo I cut out a stencil from adhesive vinyl using my Silhouette machine. After adhering the stencil to the shoes I carefully painted in the red using Martha Stewart’s Habanero paint from Michael’s mixed with a touch of fabric paint medium to prevent cracking.  After my second coat had dried I removed the stencil and free handed the white border to give the logo a little pop against the grey shoes.  As a little extra accent I glued some red and white polka dot grosgrain ribbon around the back and sides.

They were super easy to make and since I only had to go out and buy the Five Below shoes super cheap too!

I love them and can’t wait to sport them at a game this season.

GO PHILS!
